Dr Veneshree Naidoo is a specialist colorectal surgeon and gastroenterologist based at the Life Flora Hospital in Johannesburg. She was born in Pretoria in 1976. She completed her undergraduate training in Pretoria at the Medical University of Southern Africa, obtaining her bachelor's degree in basic science in 1997 (BSc - majoring in Biochemistry and Physiology). Dr Naidoo graduated as a medical practitioner (MBChB) in 2002.
Driven to become a surgeon, she went on to pursue her surgical training as a registrar at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, becoming a fellow of the College of Surgeons of South Africa in 2015 FCS (SA).
With a keen interest in colorectal diseases and pathologies affecting the pelvic floor, Dr Naidoo furthered her training in the field of colorectal pathology and colorectal laparoscopic surgery through the WITS/Donald Gordon Medical Centre. She holds a sub-specialty qualification in colorectal surgery and surgical gastroenterology from the College of Medicine of South Africa.
Dr Naidoo also works as a colorectal/general surgery consultant at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in the colorectal subspeciality unit and is an associate lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand.
As a specialist colorectal surgeon, Dr Naidoo treats colorectal pathologies and general surgical conditions. She is fluent in English and Afrikaans and is a member of the South African Medical Association, South African Colorectal Society, South African Gastroenterology Society and American Society of Gastroenterology.
